Deluxe Saratoga Jacks 7 Liter Thermal Cooker with Thick Bottom on the Large and Small Pot

at the recommendation of friends we purchased the 7L size with the small pot also having the thick bottom. To our astonishment it arrived at our door 2 days later. Fast service!
We put it to use the next day. I made wheat chili- brought it up to boil for a few minutes then set it into the thermal unit. We took it with us and when we arrived at our campground finally and got all set up, we were starved. Opened the lid- and voila- dinner was perfectly cooked. It had been more than 8 hours since putting it into the thermal unit and it was still piping hot. I was worried that the chili would have leaked out of the pot into the liner since we were on bumpy roads, but not a drop was spilled.
I like that the liner is also stainless steel. The pots are both heavy and well made with thick bottoms. The lid and latch on the thermal unit are well made and secure- stayed in place despite being bounced around. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great alternative way to cook food- whether for emergencies, fuel conservation, traveling, church socials, etc. So glad I purchased this!

This is the best thermal cooker that I have used yet (I have several). I love the triple layered bottoms on both pots so that they can be put on the stove. The quality is 5 star. Thank you for the speedy shipping time too!
P.S. I would love the 5.5 litre edition as well but I will wait hoping for the inner pot to become triple layered.

My family travels a lot, and for years I've wished that I could be cooking a meal in the car so that when we are hungry we could just pull over into a rest area and eat something healthy instead of going out and buying junk so often.

My research brought me to thermal cookers, and after looking over a bunch of different products, Saratoga Jacks 7L seemed the best fit. It's more pricey, but you get what you pay for!

I've had it for less than a month and already used it 7 times. Once for an initial run at home with beef and broccoli. Then tested it on the road with the Mexican Chicken. Made eggs in a bag twice for breakfast in a hotel, made taco soup which we called taco salad after straining much of the liquid to serve, and finally I've made two batches of yogurt.

It is exactly what I wished and hoped for, I only wish that I had found it sooner!

Love the quality of this product. The two pot system is a great concept. For me this system is better and cleaner than the wonder bag., also more compact for storage. Would recommend to others.

As soon as I received the thermal cooker at home, I washed the larger of the recipients and start boiling water at the container full capacity. I put some salt and added a bag of dry pink beans. As I have to go back to work after my lunchtime, I just waited until the water start boiling (around 215 F), covered the pot with the lid and put it inside of the insulated container and close it. I left home not expecting too much, as I did not pre socked the beans and did not boiled the beans for the few additional minutes recommended. I arrived 6.25 hours later, I measure the temperature of the water, it was 175 F. When I checked the beans, I realized that were perfectly cooked even that I did not fallow all the recommendations. I am a happy camper with this product.

I plan on using the cooker on our sailboat, but just got it and tried it out at home. It surpassed my expectations. I made Chicken Rogan Josh in the bottom and Basmati rice in the top. I browned chicken and onions in ghee, added the sauce and brought to a soft boil. At the same time I boiled the rice 3 minutes and then stacked the pans and placed them in the cooker. I did wrap the cooker in a towel for a little more insulation and 8 hours later it was still hot to the touch. The rice was perfect. I look forward to trying other recipes - Jambalaya next.

I just ordered and received my Saratoga Jacks retention cooker combo last week. The ordering process was simple with no issues. Shipping and delivery were lightning fast! Well packed, I got my purchase without any damage whatsoever. It's too early for me to offer my opinion about its performance yet, but I will update as soon as possible. For the past few years, I've been experimenting with various forms of cooking that either save fuel like rocket stoves, woodgas stoves, and even pressure cookers; or outright alternative forms of cooking with various solar cookers, "haybox" cookers and so on. The Saratoga Jack heat retention cooker got my attention and offered me some flexibility that I couldn't get with a "haybox" style cooker. That flexibility is portability offering me with 7 liters of food that can be initially heated to a boil in 10 minutes and continue to cook for up to eight hours. "Do it yourselfers" might balk at this, and I have built various stoves and cookers. However I find value with this cooker. I'll keep you updated.

This thermal cooker works wonderfully. Cooked beans in it that were soaked overnight. Such a great way to have a hot meal on the go. Spend a few minutes before you go somewhere and take your hot food with you.
