The Saratoga Jacks Thermal Cooker is an alternative, cordless method of slow cooking, that saves up to 80% on fuel costs. It is perfect for making meals both at home and on-the-go. Made of high quality, 304 - 18/10 surgical stainless steel, the cooker is an insulated thermal unit with a lid that seals shut and a fold up/down handle for easy portability. Included are 2 inner stainless steel cooking pots, which are inserted into the cooker, of two different sizes: one large, 7L pot with a heavy duty triple layered bottom, with the addition of a smaller pot, which has a single layer bottom.

The smaller pot can be nested inside of the larger one, providing a place for an optional small side dish. Use of the smaller pot is optional. The small pot can be removed to accommodate larger quantities of food in the larger pot, which can be used separate and independent of the smaller nesting pot. It works!

Posted by John on 17th Apr 2013

Just like many of you, you want to make sure your not getting some junk to add to your "just in case kit". Like you I am reading about everything before making the purchase. I would suggest you make the buy. Amazon for some reason is not selling the larger 7-liter unit and you cant beat the price here. Get the stove with case and purchase the fuel from Amazon. Look through Amazon's site you can find some dealers offering the fuel cheaper than others. Yes I did make a meal just as she shows. My temp at 7.5 hours was 177 degrees.

    Amazing Product

Posted by Robert Harbin on 29th Jan 2013

Honestly I was really questioned how well this would hold in the heat and cook. My wife purchased it last year and we had not tried it out yet but this past weekend we gave it a workout. My boys and I had been planning a steelhead fishing trip to northern Idaho for quite some time. When we were prepping to leave my wife got out the cooker and said to take it and try it. We prepped a pot roast in the cooker and got it started then we hit the road with the cooker on the floorboard in the truck. 11 hours or so later we were finally at our hotel and tired from the drive. Off and on during the day we would catch a hint of the roasts aroma but we never opened the lid. Once we were settled in the hotel room we were finally able to test the cooker out. 12 hours after we closed the lid at home we opened it again and we surprised that after all of that time driving we did not spill a drop and the internal lid was so warm we could barely keep our hand on it for more than a few seconds. The roast? It was so tender that we could cut it with our forks. My wife and I are going to cook with this more to experiment on recipes and are excited about it. This cooker has proven its value to me without a doubt. Our only regret with using it this past weekend on our fishing trip is that I did not prepare for a second meal with it knowing we were going to spend a full day on a cold river fishing. It would have been nirvana to go back to the hotel and walk in smelling food already waiting for us....I learned my lesson.

    Excellent Cooker

Posted by Ash on 5th Jan 2013

The Saratoga Jack's 7L Thermal Cooker (w/dual nesting inner pots) is a superb piece of equipment. You will *never* regret purchasing a thermal cooker from Saratoga Jack's.

The unit itself is well made (especially considering how reasonably priced it is) and does not tend to have any thermal leaks. It really is a premium piece of equipment at a bargain price.

All-in-all I certainly recommend the Saratoga Jack's Thermal Cookers. Combine your Thermal Cooker with a Stovetec rocket stove, and maybe a parabolic solar cooker, and you will have all your bases covered for off-the-grid cooking (the Stovetec burns any bio fuel, such as wood, grass, etc); and the parabolic solar cookers use sunlight.

Maybe Jack should consider carrying Stovetec stoves and parabolic solar cookers (or at least carry the Solar Oven Society "Sport" Solar Oven).

Regardless, go ahead and purchase yourself a Saratoga Jack's Thermal Cooker. You will be glad you did.

    I hope this helps.

    Love this thing

I can not believe how much fun I am having remaking all our favorite recipes to cook in my thermal cooker. I think this needs to be published everywhere so more people can see the benefits of this product.

    Sarasota Jack 7L Thermo Cooker

Posted by Jan on 18th Sep 2012

I received my thermo cooker in record time. I was so excited to try it. I made chili in the big container and followed the rice recipe for the small pan on the top. I need to tweek my recipe a little but over all I am thrilled not to be using electricity for 8 hours to make dinner. This is part of my emergency prep for the future. I want it to be second nature so that I don't freak out if the power grid is gone.

    The take along pot!

Posted by Lisa on 27th Oct 2011

This is great, just like a crock pot with out worrying while you are not home. Unlike a crock pot, you food won't burn. And no added stress of having a hot crock pot plugged in and on at home.
Take it with you! This is great for camping, emergency situations and just for fun. I use this on days I work to make sure the kids have something unprocessed for dinner. They love it too. AND if the food cools too much before serving, just reheat in the pan!
I have done soups, chili, oatmeal, chicken stew and dips. All came out terrific!
I love that you can use any fuel: electric, gas or fire. This makes it ideal for any situation. Also, you can use this as a cooler as well. Just make sure the food is cold all the way through before putting it into the liner. Fantastic!
