The Saratoga Jacks Thermal Cooker is an alternative, cordless method of slow cooking, and can save you up to 80% on fuel costs. It is perfect for making meals both at home and on-the-go. Made of high quality, 304 - 18/10 surgical stainless steel, the cooker is an insulated thermal unit with a lid that seals shut and a fold up/down handle for easy portability. Included are 2 inner stainless steel cooking pots, which are inserted into the cooker, of two different sizes: one 5.5L pot with a heavy duty triple layered bottom, with the addition of a smaller pot, which has a single layer bottom.

The smaller pot can be nested inside of the larger one, providing a place for an optional small side dish. Use of the smaller pot is optional. The small pot can be removed to accommodate larger quantities of food in the larger pot, which can be used separate and independent of the smaller nesting pot. Both pots can also be used on an induction stove. Feeds approx. 3-5 people

    I wouldn't be without one

Posted by Cathy on 16th Jul 2015

I love my thermal cooker! I almost didn't buy it because I thought it was a bit pricey, but I am so glad I did. It's worth every penny! In fact, I liked mine so much, that I bought a second one for my Dad. He's retired and is a full time RVer, and does a lot of boondocking, so I know this thermal cooker will come in handy. It works every bit as good as the videos say it does, and I wouldn't be without one now.

    Saratoga Jack rocks!

Cooked pinto beans & ham in the cooker while I was traveling. When I arrived at my cabin my evening meal was ready and perfect. This is going to be a very useful cooking utensil.

Great product at a great price :-)

The 5.5 liter Thermal Cooker provides a generous meal for my wife and I with plenty left over for later. Made a Chicken Chili that's very satisfying on a cold winter day:
Two packets of McCormick white chicken chili seasoning mix
    Six diced red skin potatoes
    One diced yellow onion
One pound of diced chicken breast fillet
Two cans of cream of chicken soup
One bag of great northern beans rinsed
One small can of corn drained
Add water to bring contents within 1 1/2" from top of pot
Combine ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes(I'm using dry beans that usually take 1 to 3 hours to cook tender, so I increased the simmer time).Place pot in its insulated container and let thermal cooking do the rest. This meal was piping hot and ready to eat in five hours to our liking. Can substitute dry beans with canned beans, and add your own favorite ingredients to create your own version.
The great thing about this thermal cooker is you can create a meal just the way you like it. And you're not going to find a better cooker for this price. My next meal is going to be baby lima beans with diced country ham, with some cornbread on the side. Thanks Jack and Amy for a great product. And "Congratulations" on the new addition :-)

    More than satisfied.

Posted by Mr. D on 28th Jan 2015

I travel a lot (via motorcycle and camp trailer) and purchased this as I figured it would be nice to have a hot meal all-ready at the end of a long ride. I used it only once on the road so far. Very happy with the results. At the end of the day the food was fully cooked and quite hot after five hours of riding. I started off with some raw beef and vegetables and added some already cooked 'leftovers'. Raw items were perfect and precooked items did not overcook. It was great.

The product was of good materials and craftsmanship.
I like the fact that I can also use it on my induction top when at home.

I would have given it five stars but found that the inner pot leaks quite a bit (even out of the outer pot) when driving just a couple miles on a paved but not so smooth road. I need to find a way to make some kind of gasket to keep the contents inside the inner pot while it is strapped onto a motorcycle.
    Any ideas?

Love the product and certainly do recommend it to others.

    Just tried it tonight.

I was testing out a Meal in a Jar recipe tonight. It turned out wonderful. Now I will make up and package these meals for use in the Saratoga.
I will be teaching a class on the use of these. I'm so glad someone came up with this idea. Love it! so does the family.

    Great Cooker-Don't Hesitate to purchase

Posted by Ana on 18th Oct 2014

I purchased this cooker in case of power outages and to use during hot, summer months. I used it to cook dry black beans. I soaked the beans overnight and the following morning I rinsed them and seasoned them with onions, peppers, olive oil, salt, pepper flakes and some cilantro. I boiled them for about 4 minutes then I put them in the cooker for 7 hours. I also cooked white rice on the smaller, top pot. Seven hrs later they were perfectly cooked. Not too hard or to soft, just the right texture. They were a bit watery, but I added some cornstarch and thickened them up. This smaller pot is just perfect for 1 lb for dry beans. Thanks Saratoga Jacks for such a great product.

    You have to try this!

Posted by Cathy on 30th Sep 2014

ok, I have to say I was skeptical this would work, but I'm not anymore. I cooked a pot roast for dinner tonight, and it turned out wonderfully. The meat was tender, delicious, and moist, while the vegetables remained firm and flavourful. No mushy potatoes here. I love this thermal cooker, and can't wait to try it again. It was quick and easy to prepare the pot roast, and then you just forget about it until dinner time. How awesome is that? I almost didn't buy this, because the shipping to Canada was a little pricey for me, but after trying it, I am so glad I did, and I would recommend it to anyone. Now I just need to find more thermal cooker recipes. .

    So impressed!

Posted by Miss G on 21st Aug 2014

After having read numerous positive reviews about the SJ-brand in comparison to (much) more expensive brands, I bought and received my 5.5 liter cooker last week. I am totally in love with it. The quality of design and appearance are sleek and impressive, and it looks really great on the kitchen counter.

Have already prepared "Baked" Chicken breasts -- finger-lick'en-good!(http://preparetodaywardnewsletter.blogspot.com/2012/05/prepare-today-homemade-baked-chicken-in.html) as well as the delicious Boeuf bourguignon (http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/9980/boeuf-bourguignon-in-a-thermal-cooker.aspx.) Baked a bread too! This was not quite successful, but I'll get there! (It was edible...well, almost.)
(https://thermalcooker.wordpress.com/category/recipes-all/recipes-breads/) But then: bread baking is an art -- even in the oven.

Next on the menu? A roast (see http://www.foodstoragemoms.com/saratoga-jacks-thermal-cooker-part-ii/); Mr. D's Fruit Cake (http://www.thethermalcook.com/boiled-fruit-cake-in-a-thermal-cooker) and Chinese Beef Stew (http://www.thethermalcook.com/chinese-beef-stew).

I cannot wait to take this along on vacation in our RV. Imagine: a hot dish waiting on arrival at a campsite.

This thermal cooker is an astounding kitchen aid and brings about amazing savings too -- thanks Saratoge Jacks!

    Amazing Product

Posted by Lori on 3rd Feb 2014

Love this product! In the 10 days since I received the cooker, I have made a roast and steamed baking potatoes. After 6-7 hours, the water in the pot was still very hot. The cooker surpassed my expectations. Now that I know the process actually works, I am looking forward to experimenting with different meals. My next purchase will be the bread pan.
